TERRA ZONE heating cables have the form of soft, elastic cable in a thick silicone protective cover.
They can be freely bent and are easy to install.
The installation is performed by placing the device directly on the glass aquarium bottom.
Soft suction cups included in the set are helpful for that purpose. Properly installed cable should cover entire surface of the tank bottom. After installation it should be covered with a layer of gravel or sand.
After connecting to the power grid, the cables starts emitting heat evenly throughout its entire length.
In effect a heat zone is created in the substrate that is a great place for growth of plants roots.
Such a "floor heating" is specially valued by species creating strong root systems, such as plantains, water trumpets, lotuses and arrowheads.
Supporting the plant growth is not the only advantage derived from having a TERRA ZONE heating cable in an aquarium. By heating the substrate it creates an intensive water movement inside (heated water as the lighter one will rise up), therefore it supports natural biological filtration (increased temperature also positively influences nitrifying bacteria present in the substrate). Furthermore the presence of a heating cable provides an even water temperature in the tank and liberates from the necessity of using a heater (in bigger tanks the cable can cooperate with heaters as an additional heating device).
The devices can also be used in heating terrariums interiors where they provide thermal comfort to species originating from tropical zone and especially steppe and desert areas, reptiles and invertebrates.
